  • Open Enrollment for Student Transfers: Jan. 15 thru Feb. 28

    During open enrollment, students may apply to transfer from their home school district to a school of their choice if space is available. The open enrollment period begins Friday, January 15 through February 28, and the transfer applications are for the 2021-2022 school year.

    The school district posts a weekly summary of the total number of students and staff that have tested positive for COVID-19 in an effort to openly communicate this information to the public while respecting the privacy of others and protecting confidential medical information.     As part of innovative planning and implementation grant through NC’s Digital-Age Learning Initiative powered by the NC Department of Public Instruction and the Friday Institute at NC State, educators and administrators are participating in a two-day training to become Digital Learning Coaches. These school-level coaches are deep diving into levels of Google certification and digital learning management systems.

  • Board Approves Partnership with Duke University

    The Board of Education recently approved a partnership with the Duke Clinical Research Institute, one of the world’s largest academic clinical research organizations that is part of the Duke University School of Medicine. A recent study of schools offering in-person instruction indicated that the rate of transmission within schools was much lower than the rate of community spread of COVID.

  • West Caldwell Teacher Most Recently Completes National Board Certification

    Kristen Bowman, English teacher at West Caldwell High School, has completed National Board Certification, the highest level of teaching credentials through the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. She joins 284 of her colleagues who have completed national board certification while serving in the Caldwell County Schools.
