Math: All classes took their PMT today. Classes 61 started creating a decimal to percent to fraction foldable. Class 62 finished up percent notes from yesterday, then started their foldable. Class 63 finished their percent quiz from yesterday or could work in Freckle or could catch up on work.
Science: Finished up the light portion of the Venn diagram comparing/contrasting sound and light waves. Students then had time to catch up on work.

Math: Classes 61 & 62 started learning about percents: what is a percent  what does it mean  how is a percent related to a fraction or a decimal? Class 63 took a percent word problem quiz, they were able to use their notes and calculators.
Science: Watched a Study Jams sound video, then created a Venn diagram comparing/contrasting sound and light waves. Why is there no sound in outer space? Has Hollywood been lying to us with those big explosions in outer space?

We need updated/current information on their math strengths which should be much stronger now then when they took the test at the beginning of September. We are starting MTSS (MultiTiered System Support) remediation math classes next week during Advisory. Class grouping will be based on STAR Math results.

Math: We set up our math binders and discussed how math makes us feel. I let my kids know that I wasn't "good" in math when I was in middle school because I didn't always get it.
Science: We set up our science binders and discussed how science is all around us, all the time, from our digestive systems to plants taking in carbon dioxide and giving us oxygen. I wanted my kids to get the point that they didn't stop doing science last year in 5th grade! We also started our science safety unit.
