Because we all have numerous zoom meetings for other classes, I've decided to schedule all of our optional zoom meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00. This will start this week, so we'll have a zoom meeting on Tuesday, April 7th and on Thursday, April 9th at 4:00. I will record all of the meetings and put them on this webpage. Let me know if you have any questions.

APA Style Beginner Paper 4-5 pages minimum 6 sources
As you begin research for your APA paper, think in the following format:
1. What's the dilemma/point you are discussing? (For example, there are various types of philosophies in battlefield strategy)
2. What does the literature (research) say about it. (This is very similar to an annotated bibliography)
3. Based on your review of the literature (research), what is the answer? (For example, Confucius's philosophies are most used in battlefied strategy).
Remember that the annotated bibliography is due on Sunday, April 5th by midnight. For the annotated bibliography, write the bibliography in APA (7th edition if available). Next, give a brief summary and an analysis of the source. These do not need to be separate paragraphs as they were on the MLA style annotated bibiliography. The annotations (the paragraph underneath the citation/bibliography) should be between 150-200 words). Also, remember that we can meet online via zoom if you want.
Possible Topic Ideas (you are not bound by any of these ideas; they are just suggestions)
Psychology: Most common reasons for divorce; importance of interpersonal skills; how to tell if someone is lying; the difference between a sociopath and a psychopath; Pavlov's dog theory; the teenage brain; effects of social distancing on children; introversion vs. extroversion; popularity of memes; gaming addiction
Medical: Alzheimers; Fatty Liver Disease; the need for Doctors in rural areas; Coronavirus; how to prepare for pandemics; difference between a pandemic and an epidemic; effects of social distancing on disease spread
Politics: is there a biased news media; comparisons of Trump and Andrew Jackson; political effects of building the wall; rise of modern nationalism; role of fake news in politics; most effective politician; Confucius's political philosophy; Machiavelli's political philosopy
Economics: benefits of a globalized economy; economic effects of building the wall; purpose of the stimulus package; economic effects of universal healthcare; free college
Philosopy: the role of war in human development; correlation between money and happiness; reality of feeling in love

*Presentation of one of your papers via Zoom. Email me what time/day this week you will be able to present. Create a PowerPoint that you can screen share with me. Don’t worry; I will walk you through how to do this and give you much more detailed instructions and a rubric soon. This is worth 12% of your final grade.
*Writing Portfolio due Wednesday, May 6th. You may either present it to me via zoom or you can drop it off to the school. Again, I will give you more detail about how to do this later. It is worth 5% of your final grade and will not be accepted late!
