Instead of the traditional AR (Accelerated Reader), 6th grade students participate in AIR, which stands for "Academic Independent Reading". Students are expected to independently read a library book of their choice and complete a project based on the attached AIR matrix guidelines. The AIR program gives the student more flexibility to show what they have learned in contrast to the traditional AR tests. These projects allow students to be creative and have fun in the process.
My classes go to the media center every Thursday. AIR projects are due every 2 weeks on Monday. Please check the "CLASS CALENDAR" for library dates and due dates.
Students are expected to take at least one AR test every two weeks as well. Good reading skills are the foundation for all learning. Please help your child succeed by encouraging them to read every day by ensuring they are reviewing and signing their nightly reading log ! :)
