Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Science Master of Arts Appalachian State University Boone, North Carolina
Josie Varela graduated from Appalachian State University twice, once in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Development and again in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Political Science. Ms. Varela is a first-generation college student who fell in love with the ASU campus immediately upon arriving for a college visit her Junior year of high school. Until that point, Ms. Varela had no idea what path to go down upon graduating high school in the cool, Blue Ridge mountains of Alleghany County.
Ms. Varela was able to transition from high school to college successfully simply due to the support she received from her College Counselor. If Ms. Varela did not receive the support she did from Mrs. Pam Hall and a few others, she would not be here to tell the story of career and college success today. Upon arriving at ASU as a college freshman, Ms. Varela was fortunate enough to receive direct support from the Student Services team and since then, empowering Others has become her #1 goal in life. She is able to fulfill this goal every day by working with West Caldwell High School Warriors to obtain career and technical education credits as well as college credits that transfer to 4-year universities across our wonderful state of North Carolina.
As the Transition Advisor for West Caldwell High School, Ms. Varela facilitates the Career and College Promise (CCP) program through CCC&TI. Ms. V. is here to help students explore career options, college transfer pathways, career and technical education certifications, and obtaining such credits TUITION FREE while in high school here at West. Students interested in the CCP Program are encouraged to reach out to Ms. Varela often as questions and curiosity are always welcomed.
Please reach out to Ms. Varela and find out how she can help you TODAY.
