I started teaching in 2010 as a second grade assistant, the next year I was a Reading Specialist for 3rd-5th grade. This is when I realized how much I loved and enjoyed older children. Spent the next 6 years teaching 5th grade, all subjects. My desire to teach middle school grew, and since I was at a K-8 school I was able to teach 5th and 6th grade Math and Science for 2 years. Last year I made the leap and joined the GMS team teaching 7th grade Math and Science!
Favorite Educational Quote and Why
“Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.”— Mahatma Gandhi
With math, you have to think I can, show I can, and be willing to ask for help to achieve your belief of knowing you can do math!
Why I Became An Educator
I started in the medical field because of my desire to care for and nurture those in need. Soon I figured out it was not from the medical perspective but from an educational perspective I wanted to grow and nurture those in need. The medical background is where my love and passion for science comes from. Seeing the unique and amazing way math connects and builds on each other from year to year is what makes teaching and learning math fun. I know I have accomplish my desire to grow and nurture my students, when a student says you made me love science or understand math!
