Caldwell Online for Middle and High School

Next school year, middle and high school students will have an online learning option through Caldwell Online, the district’s new virtual instructional platform.

To be eligible to participate, students must have passed all classes in the 2020-21 school year and demonstrated self-motivation as reflected in good attendance and behavior. The newly designed online learning option offers students in grades 6-8 virtual classes in English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and one elective. In grades 9-12, students participate in courses necessary to meet minimal graduation requirements plus a selection of an elective. Courses in Caldwell Online will include both synchronous (live) and asynchronous online learning. Participation requires a year-long commitment from students at all grade levels.

Students enrolled in Caldwell Online may continue to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities at their districted school; however, they must provide their own transportation to any face-to-face practices or meetings. They will also follow the approved traditional 2021-2022 school calendar and grading periods. The same expectations for attendance will apply for Caldwell Online synchronous sessions, and students will participate in required state, district, and end-of-year assessments.

To participate in online learning, students will need a fully functional Windows device, Mac device, or Chromebook; dependable Internet connection; and access to a printer, scanner, or digital camera. Students should expect to commit approximately five to seven hours a week per course and to communicate with their teachers through emails and messages in a timely manner.

Parents of students in Caldwell Online are encouraged to develop a successful learning environment in the home and promptly respond to emails, voicemails, and messages from the Caldwell Online staff members, which will include an administrator. Online learning is dependent on an organized, routine schedule as well as consistent and positive support in the home.

For parents to learn more about Caldwell Online and the virtual learning option for their students, they are invited to attend an information session at 6:00 pm on May 11 Zoom Link or May 18 Zoom Link.
